CodeIgniter is switching to the OSL 3.0 license. So, I’m gathering information I can understand about it.
The Bottom Line
“While OSL 3.0 is a copyleft license with a reciprocal licensing requirement, it is not a viral “copy-forward” license, so using OSL 3.0 software as part of a collective work does not affect the licensing requirements for any of the other parts of the collective work. Short version: your code really is your code, and you can license it however you like.” — EllisLab
- EllisLab wants people who use my software to know that I used the CodeIgniter framework which they own.
- Simply using the CI framework to build my webapp does not make my webapp a derivative work of the framework.
