The Relationship between a FQDN & it’s Virtual Host on Apache

Two things:

  1. The FQDN (in browser) for a Web app has to resolve to the IP of the machine.
  2. Apache (on machine) has to appropriately resolve the URL to the virtual host files in the filesystem.

A FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) is the portion of the app’s URL which lists the domain and possible sub-domains. For example in the portion is the FQDN.
